Hey! We’re back, mostly. This is the first ever Clockworks guest strip, supplied by Syhd. I drew panel 1 and added a bit of photoshoppery at the end, but he wrote and drew everything else and really brought a touch of humor and absurdity to the world of Clockworks.
Sir Wilhom Bloodbourne is a long standing part of the setting, he made a brief but memorable cameo in New Dawn and has been a background element ever since. Last year, I wrote this about him:
–
Sir Bloodbourne
Sir Whilom Bloodbourne was the world’s most famous monster hunter, once. He was the star of 27 novels, 16 audio plays, and was portrayed on film 5 times. In his day he was a larger than life hero, travelling the world in search of great beasts to slay and crowds of adoring fans to share his tales with.
Following the Accordance War, public opinion turned against Bloodbourne. It was revealed that his earlier adventures contained not only the exaggerations and tall tales that many had believed them to hold; but outright lies, fabrications, and entire adventures that never happened. As public support waned, his old friends and business partners turned against him; culminating in Bloodbourne’s former bodyguard Benicio Tactence’s scathing tell all autobiography.
In his later years, Bloodbourne fell to alcoholism and bitterness. He was known to show up at small town public appearances surly, violent, and drunken. He died in a hotel in Vano in 235 NDE.
Following his death Bloodbourne’s legend has seen a bit of a resurgence; not as a master monster hunter, but as a legendary showman, charlatan, and brilliant businessman. His daughters, Violet and Marianne, inherited the remains of his estate and have worked tirelessly to restore their father’s good name and fame. His books are still widely available in second hand shops, and Violet’s biography of her father is to be released next year.

Syhd’s Bloodbourne comics will run occasionally, whenever I need a day or week off. He’s already at work on the next Bloodbourne comic, a two parter that I find hilarious and awesome.
My plan with guest comics is that anything that runs in the main section here will be canon. The Bloodbourne comics get a bit of leeway, since he’s not exactly the most reliable of narrators. But the idea is that anything that shows up in a Bloodbourne comic actually showed up in one of his books. The Bloodbourne strips will also give you a peak at places and events that may be important to the story later on. I think you can already tell a bit about Paravo from this page.
If I ever have anyone else do a guest comic, it will work in the exact same way. I’ll act as Executive Producer, and make sure that whatever they create fits in to the Clockworks story and world. I could theoretically see a guest comic centering around Agent Thorn or the Friends of H or any number of our villains.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the first of Bloodbourne’s adventures. We’ll be back to our heroes on Tuesday.

Changed the last two posts from Comics to Blogs, so they show up below now and not in the archives.
Alas poor Steampig…
I’d like to cast my vote for both a Steampig wallpaper and for making him the site’s mascot, just because.
Second’d. All hail the porcine angel.
totally agreed!
@Marrock
Hail roast steam pig? /wink
More like HAILING roast steampig, Amy! amiright?
Steampig rocks! For his short life anyway….
The Pervatious Plot of Private Stevens! I can see it now!
Well – that was full of win. Go, mighty steampig, go.
SECOND the motion! Steampig for mascot!
Did you see his smile at takeoff? That’s the kind of stout…..uhh “persons”, we need to build our great new Republic.
Also noting that our mysterious inventor looks familiar, as well as the results of his experiment. Wonder if there was gunpowder involved.
You know, I don’t think that was intentional. Knowing history, that character shouldn’t have been in Paravo at that time, but again Bloodbourne isn’t exactly the most reliable of narrators.
Go Steampig!!
Totally awesome.
I love the lizardy monster arm coming up out of the drain.
And obviously one must be careful about the proclamation of “only if” statements to children in a Steampunk world.
Yeah, the little background details here are great.
Nice. Makes me hungry though…
Porcine Angel! How prophetic…
Time for some bacon…
Nice photoshoppery. Nice and antiqued!
I think Steampig needs a wiki page.
Agreed.
Done. Funny how in one strip, the little guy has a fan following.
I have steam pig love…He flew high if briefly. Perhaps inspiring a whole generation of future flying steam creatures. Steam Aardvark anyone?
How about a phlogiston powered wombat?
=O This was AWESOME. Great work on the guest strip Syhd/Larry. Is hilarious, is exciting, is ironic, is steampunk, is amazing. Great work, guys!
I wonder, are there any mechanic-geniuses to parallel the epic heroicness of Sir Bloodbourne?
Now if you could limit the size of the explosion and train the pigs to learn addresses you could corner the market on self delivering dinners.
Steampig Brand(tm) Bar-b-q: Every bite practically explodes with flavor.
Steampig Brand(tm) Sausage: If you want breakfast on the run, you’ll have to run to catch it.
Steampig Brand(tm) Smoked Ham: Our patented express smoking technique starts your holiday meals off with a BANG.
and last but not least:
Steampig Brand(tm) Fertilizer: if you’re between us and the end of the line, you’re already a customer
Steampig BBQ: We fly it right to you! It’s so tender the meat flies off the bone!
Caveat: Steampig BBQ is not responsible for explosive damage caused to your domicile and neighboring structures, nor for injuries to anyone within 150′ radius. Customers are advised to seek underground shelter 10 minutes prior to delivery.
steampig is awesome! and I love how happy the inventor looks. small details, but I just can’t help but be happy when I see him.
This strip cracked my shit up first thing in the am. Nice
So is it Whilhom (your post and Sir Bloodbourne and the Infernal Insect of Irone) or Wilhom (Panel 1 and Panel 3, plus tag)?
Perhaps it’s the work of some devious editor! MV#5!
You know, I had the hardest time figuring out what it was supposed to be. I think it’s one of those Olde English sphelling situations where peopil are phree to spelh it anyway they pleaz, so long as it kanne be desypherd.
Syillie Syhd, youe myshsphellde “phardesht”
The Steampig wiki page is up! Edit it and make it awesome and such. You know, Shawn, you really should get the whole site and merch management person thing worked out so that we can buy Steampig design T-shirts and mugs and bags and jackets and prom dresses and lingerie.
Lingerie? Does steampig…give you wings?
Nice comic, I want a steampig…
I was wondering, did anyone else notice how it looks like Steampig is trying to give the inventor a little thumbs up with his hoof?
That was totally not intentional. Nope. I didn’t mean for it to look like that whatsoever.
In other news, it’s really difficult to draw a thumbs’ up with a hoof, logistically speaking.
Steampic=awesomeness in all things.
Hey, Shawn must be busy!
I heart your icon.
In other news, I’m finally out of my super fun time depression slump, and comics are resuming this week.
Glad you’re feeling better, good sir.
Hey, I’ve gotten a lot of comments on other sites about Steampig due to my avatar. I keep pointing them over here!
Nicole, check this out.
Yes! I was waiting for the fanart!
Is it fan art if it’s drawn by the same person who drew the original art? Can I be a fan of my own art? Curiouser and curiouser…
If it’s markedly different in style, and not part of or closely related to the original work, I figure it counts. Sort of. If I were you, I’d still be your fan.
I need to see if any of my manga nerd friends can draw a steam rocket pig.
It’s brilliant, syhd!!!
Steampig forever!
Thank you for creating such a great little character!
That pic is just begging to be colored and have a background added to make it look like one of those art deco style “to the future” kind of posters.
I totally didn’t make up something like that for Shawn to post. Nope, not at all. :: whistles innocently ::
PORCINE POWER!
::SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE::
If I ever get the chance to play Savage Worlds ‘Low Life’, I’m making Steampig…
Wow Ok so this comic is great, I just read it all and that was after reading all of Chainmail Bikini. Bang went my productivity today.
There is one thing that confuses me, The big Orange Troll guy (sorry I rubbish with names) how come his parents look so human? Seriously his mum don’t look like she has the… er girth to cope with bearing him.
Anyhew keep up the good work!
M
He was born human, but developed trollish features later. See http://clockworkscomic.wikia.com/wiki/Faeblooded
Best strip yet.
Hope you’re feeling better. Can’t wait to see the newest strip!
Thanks. Comics will be back hopefully soon.
So… is it tuesday yet?
