Hey! It’s a comic!
I’ll return this afternoon with a blog post detailing stuff. But for now, just enjoy the new page. Do note that the change to all silhouettes isn’t a permanent one, but an artistic choice driven by the necessity of actually finishing this page. Characters with outlines and shading and whatnot will return on the next page.

I just wanted to tell you guys a bit about what I’ve been up to and why I haven’t been able to make a comic. If you’ve been following me on Twitter, you already know, but here’s some news for the rest of you. A couple of weeks ago, my beautiful and awesome girlfriend fell down her back steps and sprained one ankle and broke the other. We’ve been spending a lot of time going to hospitals and seeing experts and renting a wheelchair and getting scans and last Friday going in for surgery, and then dealing with post surgery healing up. As you can imagine, this was a bit more important than making comics. Also, spending a lot of time with a loved one in pain meant I really wasn’t in the mood to draw our heroes (who I’m rather fond of) getting shot and stabbed and beat up. Unfortunately, that’s sort of what’s happening right now and I can’t just jump to a light happy part of the story.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, due to this and the current heat wave and whatnot, I’m dropping to a one day a week update schedule for the near future. I’d like to return to two comics a week eventually, maybe in a month or so. Today’s silhouette heavy art was a way to force myself to finish a comic, as I knew I didn’t have the time or energy to do a normal page.
So yeah. That’s what’s been up on my end. If you want to offer Clare hugs or well wishes, she reads the comments here (and posts too…)
As an aside – we had a two day marathon of RuPaul’s Drag Race earlier this week, and if you have Netflix I highly recomend it. Maybe you don’t want to go through two seasons in 48 hours, unless you’re laid out with an injury, but it’s a ton of fun and well work watching. I’m a big fan of Raja from Season 3. Season 4 isn’t on Netflix yet, but I’m sure we’ll watch it once it is.
Anyway, back next week with a new page. Big stuff happens!

Is there any chance that you’ll one day soon put all this in a book or two? I don’t normally go for graphic novels but I like your work. I don’t always get a chance to keep up with it. Though I’d probably be willing, eager even, to buy a book so I can take it with me to read.
Just me thinking. Perhaps not well.
A book is a long ways off. My plan right now is to wait until the entire thing is finished before going back and doing a second pass for a final version for print. So realistically we’re probably looking at like a decade away.
I might change my mind at some point, and do like Clockworks Volume 1, which might cover comics 1-180 or so. But right now my plan is to wait until I can do the whole thing in one big fat book.
Let’s be real- I seriously injured myself, but St. Louis is also in the middle of the worst heat wave everrrrrrr.
No one can get work done in this weather.

I love Ophelia’s eyes in this. It reminds me of how a cat reacts when threatened.

2. CALLED IT. I never said anything, I have zero proof, but there was this part of me that enjoys imagining how bad things can get, and Ophelia- this could be catastrophic. Or just plain bad.
