Savage Worlds

Clockworks isn’t only a webcomic, it’s also an upcoming licensed setting for the Savage Worlds role-playing game, by Pinnacle Entertainment Group.

Clockworks the RPG setting is still very much in development.  My plan is to run a Kickstarter campaign around the new year to fund editing/layout/publishing for the new book. I want to have the entire book written before then, and I’ve decided to do so in public, and invite you along.

The entire thing is up on Google Docs for you to read and comment and send me messages telling me how I’m doing it wrong.

There’s also a Facebook Group you can join to follow the progress and give feedback/scorn/mockery.

Clockworks is published by Clorencia Press (that’s me) and like the webcomic, Clockworks the RPG setting  is open via the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.  The Savage Worlds rules however are copyright Pinnacle Entertainment Group.

What does this mean?

It means that all of the setting material for Clockworks is open to you guys to copy and distribute and make your own in the same way the comic itself is.  If you want to create a fan version of the setting using D20 or Fate or Dungeon World or whatever, you absolutely can.  Just don’t sell it, and make sure I still get credit and that your variation includes the same license.  What you can’t do is copy the Savage Worlds mechanics, although those are covered under PEG’s fairly lenient fan license if you’re doing something non commercial, which you should be doing anyway. If you’re worried, err on the side of caution in regards to their rules.

Please read the manuscript, and join the Facebook group, and chime in with your thoughts and opinions and questions!
