EDIT: Bloggery update! Here are a whole bunch of random videos and stuff that I love that you should see.
1: This Dystopian Taco Bell commercial, which is like the most Shawn thing ever made. It’s like if the Free Islands put out a video trying to get people to leave the Great Republic. I love everything about this, including how horribly it perverts the very concept of teenage punk rock revolt so they can sell fast food breakfast.
2: Here’s a video of the Teletubbies in black and white set to Joy Division, it’s pretty glorious:
3: I bought Song of the Sea last week, and it’s easily the best looking animated film I’ve ever seen in my life. I 100% recommend everyone buying a copy, if you like things that are gorgeous and magical and amazing.
4: I’ve been playing Transistor lately, and really digging it. The soundtrack in particular is fantastic, although I’m not a huge fan of the game’s combat system.

It was important to me to show our heroes stop for a minute to discuss following Brigitte, as opposed to just racing after her since the letter has a giant “!” floating over it. This conversation happened in the original game as well (albeit not word for word, this all happened years ago now). It’s interesting to think what I’d have done with the comic if our heroes had decided to call it a day, as by this point in the original campaign I was already drawing the comic.

EDIT: After thinking aout how good the excellent comic Freelancer looks, I debated a bit and decided I want Clockworks to be a bit larger. So starting with Chapter 15 the comic is now 950×1267 instead of the old 750×1000. Apologies to those of you reading on older computers who now see less of the comic at once. Hopefully you’ll appreciate seeing a closer look at everything. This does mean there’s a lot of white space on all the pages pre-0181 now though. I’d like to go back and export larger versions of the old pages in the near future, but will have to see if I have the willpower to do that and not go back and noodle with all of the old artwork.
Today’s page took an interesting path to completion.
I’d originally scripted everything out for this chapter, and what we see now was actually (the first half of) page 0183. I decided a week or so ago that the page 0182 I’d written was unnecessary, and put it up on Patreon as a deleted scene with scribbly art as a bonus for the backers. (If you want to see it and don’t want to give me money, ask one of them nicely to share it, they’re all welcome to do so.) Then I realized that the action on the page that was 0183 and is now 0182 was too much for one page, and so I split it up into two pages. THEN I realized that I needed to add panel 1, or our heroes would be jerks who didn’t ungag Julius until after attempting to defuse the bomb.
Anyway, that’s the path from my brain and pen to your screen. We see the second half of Plan B next week. Hopefully it works better than Plan A did.
This is all more or less straight from the original game, by the way. There was more of a trail of clues that lead to Julius, that I’ve left out here to speed things along, but Toby suggested that Brigitte might be the villain, and it was largely ignored/not heard. I don’t think his timing when gloating that he was right was quite this awkward in the original game, but it could have been.
New page up next week, where our heroes do something about that whole Bomb Strapped To Julius problem.
EDIT: Oh! Also! The Patreon is up to $99 a page (albeit with monthly maximums, so last month patrons were charged for 3 pages and I made about $200, which is still pretty dang awesome.) I’ve updated the Patreon rewards and goal. For everyone who kicks in $5 or more, I’m uploading a full high res copy of the photoshop file for at least one comic a month. And if we get to $150 a week, I’ll start posting RPG content to this here blog. New rules, detailed setting info, etc and so on. This will all get compiled eventually into the Savage Setting book, but I need to make the time to write it all first. Your cash dollars can help make that happen! And remember, you can pledge as little as $1 per page, with a monthly maximum of $1, so you won’t get overwhelmed if I make a ton of pages in a month.

December was slower than I’d hoped, but I am finishing the chapter as planned before the end of the month! Page 0179 and 0180 were originally scripted as one page, and are meant to be read back to back. To minimize the wait between pages I put them together at the same time, and there will be two pages this week! 0180 will hopefully go up Tuesday, and if not it’ll go live on Wednesday 12/31. Page 0180 will also be the final page of this chapter, and I think you’ll all really dig it.
Also, over on Patreon I’ve posted a free print resolution download of the line art from the group shot in today’s page. It looks exactly like this, but much larger and suitable for printing and framing. If you’d like a full sized print resolution version, you can sign up over there to throw $1 or more at me.

It’s back! That hiatus was way too long, I am sorry. (Especially since this was meant to be a fast paced part of the story. Oops.)
I’d actually wanted to get this up last week, (in part for mercenary reasons as Patreon tallies up comics and charges people and pays me at the end of each month) but between the protests and holiday, not a lot of comicking got done.
It’s been a weird week here in St. Louis. I live far from Ferguson, but about 5 blocks from where the protests in St. Louis city were Monday night. A bunch of my friends were in the protests, some of them were even trapped in a coffee shop when it got tear gassed by the police, other friends have donated their time and talents to repainting boarded up shops in St. Louis and Ferguson. I’ve mostly stayed home and gone about my business, but I’ve been pretty vocal online for whatever that’s worth.

Back to the comic, I’m starting a weekly art meetup event at my place, to Work On Your Damn Art While Other People Are Working On Their Damn Art Near You. My goal is that this will help me stay motivated to work on my damn art (especially the comic), as I find it very invigorating to make art while other creative people are creating nearby.
There’s one more page of this chapter, and my goal is to have it up Monday the 8th. See you soon.

We’re back! Sorry about that. You’ll be shocked to know it was the same old bugbears of mental health and real life and so on that intruded on the comic updates in June. Things are back on track now though.

I’m super happy with this page, from the fashion to the environment etc. I think it’s pretty damn good looking. I didn’t get to do a couple of things I wanted to, but life goes on. New page next week!

I meant to finish this page last week, but for reasons that are I think obvious, the art on this one took a LOT longer than usual. I think it was worth it though. Some stuff:
So yeah, that’s Clorencia City, in all it’s 11 levels of glory. I always wanted to wait until this moment to show the full city, and I’m glad that I did, because I don’t think I could have achieved this level of madness a year or four ago.
Our heroes are from the 5th level, which is actually the 3rd level visible in this picture, as levels 1 and 2 are entirely below ground by now. The Bronze Gardens neighborhood is just to the right of the plume of smoke from the train, back underneath the plate for the 6th level and behind those tall buildings.
